RASED Solutions: Offensive Security & Penetration Testing

    In three lines

    • Offensive security is the RASED Solutions family that answers one question: if somebody competent attacked you today, what would they reach?
    • A penetration test is a coverage exercise: examine an agreed scope thoroughly, find as much as possible, deliver a prioritised remediation list.
    • A finding without reproduction steps is an argument waiting to happen between security and engineering.

Offensive security is the RASED Solutions family that answers one question: if somebody competent attacked you today, what would they reach? An automated scan cannot answer it, because scanners report what is theoretically vulnerable, not what is genuinely reachable and chainable. This article explains how RASED scopes, executes and verifies offensive engagements.

    Penetration test or red team

A penetration test is a coverage exercise: examine an agreed scope thoroughly, find as much as possible, deliver a prioritised remediation list. Choose it before launching an application, after a significant architectural change, or for an annual compliance requirement.

A red team exercise is an objective exercise: agree a target — access to the payment system, exfiltration of the customer database — and reach it by any realistic route, including phishing and physical access. Choose it when detection maturity, not vulnerability count, is the question.

    • External, internal, web, mobile and API testing
    • Red team adversary simulation and social engineering
    • Risk-ranked findings with reproduction steps
    • Free retest of remediated findings

Why the report format decides the value

A finding without reproduction steps is an argument waiting to happen between security and engineering. Every RASED finding carries the exact request or command used, the observed result, the business impact and a fix that fits the stack in question rather than a generic reference to a standard.

Retesting is part of the engagement

A finding is not closed because a ticket was closed. RASED retests remediated findings and marks each one verified, partially fixed or still exploitable — which is also the artefact an auditor or a client security questionnaire accepts.

    The practical takeaway

Scope offensive security around what would actually damage the business, insist on reproduction steps, and treat retesting as part of the deliverable — not an extra.
