How to Register a Saudi .sa Domain: Requirements, Cost and Timeline

    In three lines

    • A .
    • The registrant's legal name must justify the domain name.
    • Expect from roughly 100 SAR per year depending on the extension, with approval typically within one to five working days once documents are complete.

A .sa domain says you are a registered Saudi entity. For government tenders and enterprise procurement it is often expected, sometimes required. The process is straightforward when your documents line up, and frustrating when they do not.

    What you need before applying

The registrant's legal name must justify the domain name. A commercial registration is the usual basis; a registered trademark or a professional licence can support names that do not match the CR exactly. Mismatches are the single most common reason applications are refused.

    • Valid commercial registration matching the name
    • Authorised person's identity details
    • Trademark certificate for non-matching names
    • A working contact email you control

    Cost and timeline

Expect from roughly 100 SAR per year depending on the extension, with approval typically within one to five working days once documents are complete. Renewals are annual, and a lapsed domain can be extremely difficult to recover once someone else takes it.

    After approval: DNS and email

Point the domain at your hosting, issue an SSL certificate, and configure SPF, DKIM and DMARC so that nobody can send email pretending to be your company. Domain spoofing is one of the cheapest attacks in the region and one of the easiest to prevent.

    The practical takeaway

Register the domain in your company's name, keep the control panel credentials yourself, and set anti-spoofing records on day one.
